Passing through on a Monday afternoon promoted a quick meal after a holiday. Choices were dismal but a solid pick in the end.
We were hungry. Simple. Hours on the road and wanting a hot meal, the craving of fish and chips set in with us being at The Entrance. Jimbo's was picked because what they clearly advertised as quality was seen in the back. Live swimming fish that anyone could choose. Also a selection of imported fish too. Let's do both!
A Basa fish burger is what I ordered up first. Wasn't really expecting much as a good soft fried fish and burger cravings were absolutely ripping my taste buds apart but the very first bite, all was right in the world. The fillet was extremely hot and full of silly smooth textures and moistness on the inside. This fish was flash fried to perfection and removed at the perfect moment. The sauce is what it was, a simple compliment to a taste piece of meat.
We came for the meal and once our order of seafood arrived, I thought "I think I should have waiting". The portion of a 'seafood for 2" could have been seafood for 3 or 4...with a side of mountain of chips. Again all the pieces we ate masterfully cooked. Mussels, calamari, seafood sticks and fillets were all catches inside and enjoyed with every bite. Probably the best seafood express I've had.
I'll be happy to wait again and again each time on order here. Tho you have to buy all condiments separately, I woddled away happy. Back on the road again.

we ordered grilled fish and a grilled salmon..
1. the grilled fish was crumbed
2. the salmon was dry and the smallest portion
3. the chips tasted likw they were cooked in old oil...
their sign says quality seafood... i say quality my ass.. -

The burger is real a nice and full flavour just no chips on the combo and the sea food basket is good

My partner was there the day before and she ordered the fish and chips with salad which she said was quite good so we thought we'd go back together the next day and order the same thing. What we got was much smaller and the quality was much worse. Not much chips and the salad looked and tasted like it was the from scraps bin at the fruit and veg section of a supermarket. The size it was for $13.95 was very disheartening too and we felt ripped off. My partner complained explaining that she was there the day before, ordered exactly the same thing and it was bigger and better but they just said its always been like that. So we left feeling ripped off and that nothing was resolved.

Jimbos used to be good seafood prominent at the entrance. But this time we were very disappointed. The oil tasted like it hadn't been changed for days. The chips were stale and the fish was old and kind of smelly. I would risk the food over here. The staff were very courteous though
